South Africa to manage India inside Midlands International Polo Tournament

South Africa will face India inside the main match inside the first International Polo Tournament in the Lions River Polo Club inside KZN Midlands. The match will probably be preceded by three curtain raisers which is set to thrill all fans and spectators on 6th May.

“We are delighted being hosting the Indian team and still have been overwhelmed for the level of interest on the public within this event. Both teams will be for the 15-goal level which balance in handicaps will guarantee a very hard-fought and closely contested match.” Said Mark Davies, President with the South African Polo Association.

The Indian side will likely be captained with the 5 goaler – Colonel Ravi Rathore, who may have represented India in five successive World Cups. Gaurav Sahgal (4), Salim Azmi (3) and Siddhant Sharma (3) will have alongside Ravi Rathore for your Indian team.

“The Indian Army includes an incredible 1.4 million soldiers as well as the 61 st Cavalry Regiment is one with the last fully mounted active fighting bodies inside the world. Most Indian polo players learn their equestrian skills using this elite Regiment ones Col Rathore is Commandant” said Davies.

The programme for your day begins at 10 inside the morning having a curtain raiser between youngsters which are going to be followed by a match between Ngunis & Ankoles. The teams from schools comprising of current and old boys may play at noon prior to grand international event.
The match between India and South Africa begins at 1330 hrs and can conclude at 1500 hrs and will probably be followed by a live band performance.

Thrilling and exhilarating international polo is going to be coming to the midlands section of Kwa-Zulu Natal on 6 May this current year! The SA Polo Association has invited a 15-goal team from India to try out against a South African team in the Lions River Polo Club inside inaugural action-packed Midlands International Polo on Sunday 6th May 2018. This date continues to be chosen to coincide using the enormously popular Hilton vs Michaelhouse schoolboys rugby clash which are going to be held yesterday, Saturday 5th May, at Michaelhouse. This International promises to get a fun-filled and exciting day of entertainment. The day will kick off having a kids match between Elands and Bushbuks at 10h00 that can showcase the younger generation who will likely be the future stars of South African Polo. This will likely be followed by a curtain raiser match between Nguni and Ankole teams at 11h00 and after that in keeping with all the weekend’s rivalry at 12h00 there is going to be a Hilton vs Michaelhouse curtain raiser polo match. The main match between South Africa and India will require place at 13h30 which will likely be followed by prize-giving. There is going to be a live band (Angus) playing for 2 hours from your conclusion of prize-giving to finish off an excellent day of polo and fun.
